A free SEO strategy session sounds great until you remember everyone who offers one is trying to sell you something.

So the honest question is: should you book a free SEO strategy session with me specifically โ€” and is your 30 minutes going to be a real diagnosis or a thinly-veiled pitch?

This article is the straight answer. Who the call is genuinely for. Who I tell to skip it. What you walk away with. And how to decide whether it's worth your time before you click the booking link.

๐Ÿ”ฅ If the answer is yes, here's the link. Free SEO strategy session โ€” 30 minutes, with me directly, no pitch. โ†’ Book your slot

The honest one-line answer

If you're running a B2B SaaS, ecom, agency, or service business doing $500K-$50M in revenue and your SEO is genuinely stuck or under-performing โ€” yes, book the call. It's 30 minutes of senior strategy time you'd otherwise pay $500-$2,000 for.

If you don't fit that profile, the longer answer is below โ€” and it might be "skip it and grab the free book instead."

Who I built this call for

Free SEO strategy sessions with me are designed for four specific types of operator:

1. Founders of B2B SaaS, ecom, or service businesses at $500K-$50M revenue whose SEO is plateauing or under-performing relative to channel potential.

2. Agency owners at $30K-$500K MRR who want a senior outside eye on a stuck client, OR want to talk about white-label link building.

3. In-house SEO leads at growing companies who need a senior second opinion they don't have internally.

4. Marketing leads at Series A-C startups evaluating whether SEO deserves more investment vs other channels.

If you fit one of those, the 30 minutes is the highest-leverage time you can spend on your SEO this quarter.

Who I genuinely tell to skip it

I cap the call at the people who'll get value from it. So here's the honest list of who I redirect:

If you're on that list, no hard feelings. The right next move is one of the resources above, not the call.

What 30 minutes with me actually looks like

The shape of the call is the same every time:

0-5 min โ€” quick intro, you tell me your situation, current numbers, what's frustrating you.

5-15 min โ€” I share my screen (or yours), pull up Search Console + Ahrefs + your live site, walk through what I'm seeing.

15-22 min โ€” the diagnosis. 3 biggest gaps, the single highest-leverage one, the specific next action for each.

22-27 min โ€” whether we're a fit to work together. If yes, what scope. If no, what your better next move is.

27-30 min โ€” your questions.

No deck. No "we'll send a proposal." No second discovery call required.

You walk away with a real diagnosis and a written follow-up email within 24 hours.

Why I run them (the honest commercial truth)

Free strategy sessions are the highest-converting top-of-funnel channel my agency has.

About 1 in 4 calls turns into a Goldie Agency engagement. Those clients stay 18-24 months on average. The unit economics of a 30-minute call producing that outcome is genuinely hard to beat.

But the channel only works if the call is genuinely useful regardless of whether you hire us. If I pitched on every call, conversion would drop, referrals would dry up, the channel would collapse.

So I have a hard rule: the pitch never starts before minute 22, and only if you bring up working together. The other 21 minutes are diagnosis.

That math has worked for years. The honest call is the marketing.

What you actually walk away with

Two things โ€” one verbal, one written.

Verbal (on the call): the 3 biggest gaps in your SEO, the single highest-leverage fix, and concrete next steps for each.

Written (within 24 hours): a follow-up email recapping all of the above, plus โ€” if we're a fit โ€” proposed scope, retainer tier, and timeline. If we're not, the email points you at the right free resource for your situation.

That's the entire interaction. No nurture sequences. No retargeting. No "second call to discuss the proposal."

How this fits in everything else I do

I run a few different things. Quick map of where each one fits so you can pick the right entry point:

If you're not sure which one fits you, the strategy session is also the right call to figure that out โ€” I'll tell you which of the above is actually right for your stage.

For the long-form "everything I do" tour, the about page breaks it all down โ€” and the how to learn SEO post is the path I'd recommend if you're earlier in the journey.

How to know if you'll get value before you book

Three quick self-checks:

1. Can you articulate your bottleneck in one sentence?

"We can't crack page 1 for our 5 commercial keywords." "Our backlink velocity is half our competitors'." "Our blog gets traffic but no trials."

If you can โ€” book it. The call will get specific fast.

If you can't โ€” figure that out first. The free book or the free SEO audit checklist helps.

2. Are you in a position to act on advice this week?

The whole value of a strategy session is implementation. If you're 6 months from being able to act, the timing's off.

If yes โ€” book. If no โ€” wait until you are.

3. Are you willing to be told "you don't need an agency"?

About 30% of my calls end that way. If you'd resent hearing it, the call isn't for you.

If you're genuinely open to the honest answer โ€” book.

What this isn't

To be crystal clear about the negative space:

It's a 30-minute live diagnostic with the option to discuss working together if there's mutual fit. That's the whole thing.

FAQ โ€” booking a free SEO strategy session with Julian Goldie

Is the call actually with you, or with a junior on your team?

With me. Not a salesperson. Not a junior. If you book a free SEO strategy session, you're on it with me. Same for the follow-up email and any second call if we end up working together.

How quickly can I get on your calendar?

Usually 5-10 business days out. If something's urgent (manual penalty, big traffic drop), email me first and I'll see if I can fit you in faster.

Will you record the call so I can share it with my team?

If you ask when you book, yes. I send the link in the follow-up email.

What's the agency price range if we end up working together?

Retainers start at $7,500/month. Three tiers up to $20K+. We'll talk through which tier fits on the call โ€” covered in detail on the SEO retainer pricing post if you want the bands beforehand.

Do you do strategy sessions for non-SEO topics?

No โ€” SEO and link building only. For broader marketing or paid I'd point you elsewhere.

What if I want to talk about your SEO Elite Circle community on the call instead?

That's fine if it comes up, but the call is built for SEO strategy. For Elite Circle specifically, the community page and the worth-it breakdown cover it better than I could in 5 minutes.
